Start reading
Moonread reads TXT files you provide; it does not offer an online bookstore. Use Import on the bookshelf to choose TXT files from Files, or add a folder you authorize. Tap the reading page to show controls, then use chapters, search, bookmarks, and annotations to navigate. Renaming, moving, and deleting affect real files.
iCloud or unavailable files
Check in the system Files app that the source is accessible and the file is downloaded. Check your connection, iCloud status, and available storage. Reconnect an external bookshelf if its permission has expired. Reading-data sync is a separate setting from file sync and is scheduled by the system, not instantaneous. Do not start troubleshooting by uninstalling the app or deleting cloud files.
Positions, notes, and statistics
Reopening the same book content attempts to resume your position. Editing the source text may create a new content identity. Removing a source file and deleting reading data are separate operations. You can pause or clear reading statistics in their settings; clearing statistics does not delete the book text. Read the stated scope before confirming deletion.
Optional AI
You can turn off AI Features in Settings to hide all AI entry points and stop ongoing requests. Existing connections, conversations, and data-sharing permissions are kept.
Select a service, connection, and model in AI settings. The app explains the destination and data scope before initial sharing; separate search or image services may require separate permission. Declining does not affect reading. For connection problems, check the network, provider access, and quota. Never email API keys or tokens. AI output can be inaccurate, so check important information. You can withdraw permission for future sharing in connection settings.
Support Moonread
Tips in Settings are optional, repeatable purchases that unlock no content or features. Retry later if products are unavailable. Cancelling a purchase does not make a tip. A pending approval or network operation is not proof of payment failure; follow Apple's purchase status. Consumable tips do not create a restorable entitlement. Request refunds through Apple.
Report a problem
Email the app version, iOS version, device model, steps, expected result, and actual result. Redact private book titles, passages, conversations, and account information in screenshots. Do not send entire books, databases, or system logs unless a specific, limited diagnostic request has been agreed. We do not ask for passwords, verification codes, payment details, or keys. Touch and hold an AI reply and choose “Send Feedback About This Reply” to open an email draft with the selected reply, app version, provider, and model. Review and edit it before sending. If no mail account is configured, copy the contents into your preferred email app.
